SEO or Search Engine Optimization and Social Media are like two peas in a pod. They work together and honestly wouldn’t be as effective if they did not. They each have a huge impact upon the other. After all SEO is based upon the authority which it has and how relevant the information to the specific search topic. Social media helps to give the website owner and the information given that authority and relevance.
Relevance comes from having the right content. Content is definitely king and what better way to build content on your site than with a blog. Just one form of social media. Liken to the blog another way to build content is through conversation, which you get from commenters, community and discussion that takes place regarding your blog on other places whether it be a discussion forum, a Twitter conversation, on a Facebook page, the possibilities are almost endless. 
The more conversations that are taking place and the more links that are being built back to your site the greater your authority is becoming which affects your SEO. Therefore, as stated social media and SEO work hand in hand.
