Just a few years ago this statement was often said about websites, as building a website was the “in thing” for businesses.  Today, having a blog is the “in thing” and we now say this statement about blogs, “if you build it will they come?”  Meaning, that there is more to having a blog than just putting it up.  You have to do more than just publish a blog for people to come and visit it. 

Luckily today we have the arena of social media to help us in our pursuit to promote our blogs.  Social media gives us a platfrom from which to speak allowing us to “shout it from the mountaintops” so to speak, easily getting the word out.

Participating in social media, from Twitter to Facebook, from StumbleUpon to LinkedIn can help you to promote and get the word out about your blog and begin to build your followers one by one.
